Golf Scramble Raises $56,000 for Life Care Fund
The Review
The 2008 Copeland Oaks Life Care Golf Scramble took place on July 28 at the Alliance Country Club.
Area sponsors and 104 golfers participated in the event, which raised $56,000. Co-chairing the event was Ron Bugh, of Alliance, and Dick Jones, a Copeland Oaks resident. During the awards ceremony, Ron Bugh stated, "I am honored to be part of an event which raises funds for such a noble cause."
Dick Jones reminded those at the event the importance of the Life Care Fund at Copeland Oaks and how residents can live the remainder of their lives with dignity and financial security.
The Life Care Fund provided $2.4 million in charitable care during 2007 -- $1.1 million for those in independent and assisted living and $1.3 million for those in skilled nursing care. Through the efforts of The Oaks Foundation, The Life Care Fund provides financial support to residents that have outlived their resources.
The purpose of The Oaks Foundation is to encourage philanthropy and Christian stewardship on behalf of Copeland Oaks and Crandall Medical Center. During the celebration Matt Stinson, Oaks Foundation administrator, said, "We can't thank our volunteers and supporters enough. Ron and Dick did an amazing job with our philanthropy committee making this our most successful outing ever. We recognize that it is usually the same business owners and leaders being asked to support many different organizations in the community. During this particular economic climate, we are very thankful to our generous sponsors and I am touched by the incredible participation in this year's event."
First-place winner of the golf outing was the First American Title team consisting of Mike Bugara, Dan Heck, Jeff Hendricks and Todd Jones.
Second place went to attorney Geoff Goll's team consisting of Geoff Goll, Von Goll, Nate Mullen and Cory Mullen. Third place went to Mount Union College's team consisting of Jason Candle, Scott Gindelsberger, Larry Kehres and Harry Paidas.
